Remove remote calls

The fantabulous Barry (from ClearSkys) whipped up a little plugin to remove remote calls to update servers, and if you’re working locally and offline, those calls will slow you down to an agonizing crawl. So, enter a quickie.

    Well that certainly opened up my eyes to see all those call outs that our wpmu installs are doing. Have to admit that I’m tempted to just put an end(); at the top of the update.php file but I’m sure that’ll either break something or miss checks somewhere else.

    While I don’t see anything that worries me in those calls, it concerns me that stuff like that was optional.
