I was thinking about upgrading to WordPress MU to allow multiple separate blogs for several of my friends who blog about similar things as myself. My question is if I had multiple blogs running on a WordPress Mu installation is there a way to aggregate all the latest blog posts in chronological order on the home page?

Here's ShinePHP's WPMU explanation.

mu-plugins are for plugins that run ALL THE TIME regardless. They do not show up on the plugins list, they can't be disabled unless you remove the file.

It's good practice to only put plugins in there that specifically state they go there.

Thanks, Andrea.

Just downloaded it. But do I put it in the MU-plugins folder or the regular plugins folder?

Should I assume that the MU-plugins folder is ONLY for plugins that I can control for the main site that I am the admin of, and the plugins folder contains the plugins that every user who signs up can have on their personal blog?

Yep, and it's easy. :)

Use the new blog defaults plugin here:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wpmu-new-blog-defaults/

You can specify a default theme with it, plus a whole lot more.

Also, make sure you go to Site Admin -> Themes and have your theme enabled and the other ones disabled.

Hi, thank you for doing this.

My question is:

I want to have ONLY one theme available for users that create a blog on my MU site.

Currently the default WP theme shows up by default. And users have to go in and activate the other theme. I want ONLY that one theme to be active immediately by default when users sign up for a blog.

Any ideashow I can do this?

Sheesh...so I'm trying to change User Role capabilities in WordPress MU. I know there are plugins/modules but I'm working in WordPress MU for Joomla, so I'm at the mercy of the programmers. Therefore, I need to edit the capabilities in the DB.

Any ideas what I'm looking for in phpMyAdmin?
Thanks in advance.

Great idea for a website.

I am trying to modify the text on the sign up page. I am using a theme (Brian Gardners Revolution theme) which has a black background image. The MU sign up page looks great, but the text instructions (enter your blog name) etc, are dark grey. I am not a programmer, and just wanted to change the text to white. There is of course a style sheet embedded into the code of the MU page, and I have put white in for any colors I see as black or dark grey. No luck, I just have white boxes agains a black background.

Can someone help?

Hi, Do you happen to know how on WPMU I can keep only my main blogs name and description in my header instead of it changing to the users title and description?

Hi, thanks for the site.

I've just started playing with a new site developed on WPMU. I've managed to integrate BBPress fine, but I'd also like to integrate wiki software of some kind -- all three sharing sign-ups, etc.

Any leads or tutorials?
